About Fat Chops

Formed in the mid 1990’s, Fat Chops Big Band has fast become one of the UK’s most exciting Big Bands.

With members drawn from the professional scene in the Midlands, Fat Chops gigs always deliver in terms of style, swing and power.

Performing regularly in Birmingham, Fat Chops performs music from the modern big band era with a repertoire drawn from the libraries of Buddy Rich, Woody Herman, Maria Schneider and Bob Brookmeyer as well as from the great British pens of Allan Ganley, Mark Nightingale and Steve Gray.  Fat Chops Big Band also boasts repertoire unique to themselves by award winning former and current band members Martin Williams and Kevin Wedrychowski.

Fat Chops performances always feature the best Jazz soloists from across the UK and in particular, the Midlands and have included: Peter King, Dave O’Higgins, Tony Jacobs, Jeff Hooper, Bruce Adams, Alan Barnes, Nigel Hitchcock, Tony Fisher, Mark Nightingale, Pete Long, Georgina Bromilow, Dave O’Higgins, Matt Wates, Lee Gibson, Sara Colman, Eleanor Keenan, Matt Ford and many more.

Appearances at venues across the UK and live on BBC Radio 2 are highlights of the band career which has seen it delight and stun audiences everywhere.
